Kudos to Dean and all of the volunteers!
To all,
I would like to offer my apologies to everyone for not being able to attend. Up until Friday night, I had every reason to believe I would be there, but circumstance proved otherwise.
A few days ago, I tore both the rotator cuff on my left shoulder, as well as the biceps and deltoid muscles. Friday night, I had a serious reaction to the pain medicines I was prescribed, and ended up in the ER. I've spent most of today recovering.
Regardless, if there is anything that I can answer regarding the Sabis Project, please feel free to contact me and I will do my very best to answer you in a timely manner.
Respects,
Hi, Mike.
Thanks for the kudos! I thought we had a great gathering too. Several people remarked upon the general friendliness and "sportsmanship" of the players.
I'll post some photos today. It was very nice to have you join us. I'm glad you made it!
Dean
I hate it when people comment about how great the event was. That just shows how much I missed by not being there.
Seriously, though, I am looking forward to pictures, too. And I'm glad that all had a great time!
Ken
Once I've unpacked the car and found the camera, I'll work on a post with images.
I had a GREAT time yesterday. I havent played Behind enemy lines in probably fifteen years and I must say It took me back to the old days at the Toy Soldier..... I could almost smell the Borkum Riff pipe tobacco. Not only did I have a great time gaming but I got an education on the French Foreign Legion. Thanks Tim for a great game. I was a little disappointed that Limey's and Slimeys didnt run but at least I got my hat Haha. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a really great time. It was nice to see alot of familiar faces. I'm really glad to see that you guys are working to keep the hobby alive in Maine. I salute your efforts and would like to offer any support or assistance that you may require. I sincerely hope the small fortune I spent on the hat helps at least a little:) Thanks again. -Mark
Thanks as usual to all. Once again a game day came off and the loudest thing in the room were the smiles and laughter of the gamers. Thanks Mark for the kind words about the FFL scenario. I might just use the period again, its a nice change from the World War II stuff that everyone knows something about.
Now Hmm 'Winter Wars' can anyone say Bastogne? No? - How about Trenton? No? Oh Oh I know spell it with me now S T A L I N G - damn too cold to keep spelling. The really funny part?! As I type this its snowing out here in Bath, and yes its sticking to the ground....
Anyway Kudos to Dean since this was his crazy idea, and I'll offer Kudos ahead for Huzzah 2010, so he'll keep his spirits up and persevere on that one. You think you have headaches now...
Chris and I had a great time too. Although we couldn't make it for the AM game, the Wild West game was a fun "Shoot em' up." The Indians certainly weren't being shown any love and the Cavalry was just plain ineffective. Way to go Outlaws!
Looking forward to the next one and then HUZZAH! won't be far behind.
Christopher
Thanks again for the invite! I was impressed with the group spirit. It was worth the drive. Thanks again to chris for running the AWI game. It took a little while to get used to it but it was great. Thanks again.
Hello.
My only problem was Art Fossa. He always has WAY too many books that are too good to pass up! Thanks, Art, and Austin and I particularly thank you for the "$5-a-book" boxes that always have such great stuff.
Bob Bailey
Yeah, Art is a dangerous man. Bob Kane got the $5 book of the day, a copy of Coddington's Gettysburg. I would have grabbed that myself!
Hello.
I have that one, but I think I got the book of the day while Art and I were setting up. It's titled "Over The Top", a book written about an American doughboy in World War I in France. The publication date is 1917.
Bob Bailey
Yea that Art guy.... I dont know where he gets his stuff but its hard to pass up. He gave ma a deal on a nice uniform book for Napoleon armies. Thanks Art!
