W.H.A.C.M. group meets in Bath
From Tim Richter-
"This group of Toy Soldier alumni (and refuges) has a long and varied tradition in War-gaming. We play based on a simple code: Games must be fun, not work. IF the rules a player needs to play the game do not fit on both sides of a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, they are over complicated. 6 point type is not acceptable. Also we have never met a published rules system we were not willing to play at least once out of the box before we criticized not only the rules but the designers and their firstborns. So be warned if you come to run a game. We want the rules to make sense and be playable. However be aware that we are very much against the 'dumbing down' of not only society but also of war games. A game can be sophisticated and playable. Above all we are gathering as a group of like minded individuals from all walks of life; to enjoy a well crafted game and tactical challenge and thought provoking - or at least eyebrow raising - conversation after the game.
Games played frequently include World War II (many scales, many different games - No FOW), American Civil War (several versions), Behind Enemy Lines(tm), various boardgames, and the occasional appearance of Napoleonic Ships, pre Dreadnought ships, 25mm Medievals, and anything else a member wants to run.
So though we had to bid a fond farewell to The Toy Soldier back in June, something will rise from the ashes. Come on down and game with us." --Tim Richter
Tim - Well said and in keeping with a good gaming philosophy - having fun!!! Andy
Did I read somewhere that there was to be a BEL campaign in the near future? Although Bath is a pretty serious road trip for me I'd REALLY like to get involved in something like that. I'm sure I can arrange my work schedule to make it possible if you play on a consistent day. -Mark
