The Wonderful Mr. Brown
Oh, the wonderful things Mr. Brown can do. He can cut sprue. He can glue. Can you?
Yes, Rob Brown of NH is fast becoming the talk the town. I received an email from his this morning in which he told me that he has nearly completed assembling nearly 600 Germans! You read that right, nearly 600! He expects to have the assembly completed this weekend.
Go Rob!
LOL Dr. Suess would be proud of you, Dean.
That mister Brown, that mister Brown. A faster assembler cannot be found.
six hundred miniatures all Germans galore, six hundred miniatures on the table and floor.
six hundred Germans makes many Romans faint, six hundred Germans naked without paint.
But that mister Brown, that amazing mister Brown, certainly he has thrown the gauntlet down.
Wahoo!! Go New Hampshire!
With apologies to Dr. Suess and Rob Brown,
Ken
Ken,
That is the funniest darn thing I have read in ages. Well done! An artist and a bard too. I'm still chuckling.
600 I guess I better get to work!
Yeah, in all seriousness, I feel a bit inadequet. 600 figures is a LOT! I really need to buckle down and get to work.
Dean, glad I got a few chuckles out of you. My writing skills are meager but I am, slowly, working on a few children's books. It seems I have many irons in the fire......
Ken
What will I do?
What will I do?
All this plastic!
All this glue!
I need to file, to cut, to fit
Each arm and leg
Each shield, each bit!
600 warriors massed to fight!
600 warriors, what a sight!
But there they sit, all naked. bare!
They need some paint, most everywhere.
Paint to make their shields so bright!
Eyes so they can see at night!
Swords of steel and hair of yellow,
lean and mean, some frightening fellows!
Now to prime with brush and spray!
Now to paint some troops each day!
600 men, all armed and stout!
But 3000 total, we must turn out!
Oh painters, assemblers, fellow gamers!
Do not let the numbers shame us!
Strive each man to do his best!
To keep our little warriors dressed!
Each do your part, and that will save us!
Forward, all! On to Sabis!
your prose rings true, there can be no doubt
we need our warriors both strong and stout
the work doth continue with sweat on our brow
we will have all our troops, someway, somehow
the battle draws closer as each day ends
I do so look forward, to Huzzah 2010
thousands of figures, what more could we ask?
gentlemen of New England are up to the task
my poetry is bad but my painting skills fair
I'd better get to work in my dark little lair
I'll produce my figures and spectators will say
"geez, I'm glad I don't paint my figures that way!"
Ken
Well done, gentlemen! Huzzah! I think I'll have to send this thread to Tony at WF.
Certainly alert Wargames Factory Command!
Hilarious!
Well done!
Okay, for those of thus who may be experiencing a temporary low-energy state painting our Nervii or Romans, look at these photos and you'll start to feel better!

This is roughly 600 assembled Nervii, minus the shields and weapons by the look of it.

Being sprayed...

Here they are having been sprayed with the base coat of suede brown.
Still a long way to go before they're done, but what a start!
Holy mackeral thats amazing. He must have some fast paint brush to finish all that. I wouldnt live long enough. My hat is off to Mr. Brown. Great job.
He sent me this and mentioned something about a cat deterrent. I dont know if this is to distract the cats from tackling the troops, or an implied lesson of what can happen...you decide.

Too funny. I like the glowing eyes.
Rob, When are you bringing your culinary talents up here. Very nice!
Chris
IMPRESSIVE!!!! So glad I didn't have to assemble mine! But now you've made me feel guilty for not doing more
How many Nervii are left to paint? I MAY have to do a few more . . . Andy
Having a cat of our own I had to laugh!!! Someone should invent a way to trap cat hair before it gets into EVERYTHING. Ceille produces enough to stuff a small pillow every week. Some of the Nervii I did are probably a bit furry . . .
