ASL Bunker to be offered at Huzzah!
Hi, Folks. I just posted this on TMP. Looks like a nice addition to the convention.
-----
Gabriel Landowski of Tabletop Titans has been busy organizing a
great Advanced Squad Leader event to take place at Huzzah! There will
be a guest room at the event hotel dedicated to ASL gaming, round the
clock from the time the convention opens until it closes. Here is the
description from the Event Listing.
"Advanced Squad Leader is
here! All veterans and curious new recruits are welcome to come clash
the cardboard in the ASL Bunker room! Play open games of what you want
with whomever you want, and as much as you want! Open 24/7 with an
Opponent Message Center and numerous raffle opportunities for great ASL
prizes!"
You can learn more about the event, and about Huzzah! at huzzahcon.com
ASL....my favorite board game. And I've seen it played with miniatures as well. This is pretty cool.

Analysis and Lessons learned:
The "bunker" concept worked for this year, although with our excellent turn out (12 ASLers plus 2 board gamers; we hoped for 8 and expected 4) Huzzah! 2011 staff is very receptive to the idea of assigning us half of the overflow room in the future. This means we would have sufficient space for at least eight games and one mega game which could be run for the whole weekend (an idea floated by Kedge and Tim Kelly). This would also mean better cross pollenation with the regular mini-gaming crowd as we came across numerous players with an interest in ASL or desire to learn/play. my massive manly camo net stands ready to dress the scene.
A huge thanks to those who donated prizes - I was glad to see them all go to good homes and managed to not hog anything for myself! As always I extend my thanks for those with the knowledge who gladly assisted us still learning the game. I look forward to next year and hope more of the regular crowd can attend!
Those with observations please share so that we might better any future operations!
Cheers & Thanks
I had a great time. Thanks for the opportunity to play a game I haven't opened in many years.
Mike Tribou, a.k.a Mike "Kamp"
Oops! Sorry Mike! Your last name was left off the Battle Results list and someone told me it was "Kamp" based on the email address written on there!
Glad you got a chance to play and hopefully next year will be even better!
Some other feedback from ASL community:
"This convention was definitely worth attending, and I recommend it for
people next year. I agree with Ted, this convention has the potential
of becoming the third jewel in the New England ASL Triple Crown.
The venue was good, and the variety of miniatures games going over the
weekend was impressive, with a wide arrange of scales and time periods,
ranging from ancients (Roman/Barbarian Battle of Sabis, which was
looking bad for the Romans by the end) up to some contemporary LIC
situations based on US Army training scenarios. There were a few naval
games, and something with aviation pretty much every session. WWII was
well represented, especially by the World in Flames tournament all day
Saturday. For this tournament, each player took a unit and played it
through the day in different environments (seeing Russians attacking
Germans in the desert was jarring, to say the least!)."
