Avalon Hill founder Dies
Hey All,
Just a heads up for all you old baordgame grognards --
Charles S. Roberts considered by many to be "The Father of Wargaming" and founder of The Avalon Hill Game Company, has passed away.

Yup. Panzerblitz opened a whole new world to me when I was younger.
Don't forget, too, that one of his writers and developers was Gary Gygax, who also went on to have a pretty good run in the gaming world.

I ordered two Avalon Hill games when I was playing with Airfix figures and the games I ran were sports games. The Avalon Hill stuff was in a catalog I got for the sports games. The games were PanzerBlitz and Kriegspiel. I still have both.
I always preferred the Avalon Hill board games.

My father inttroduced me to chess first, but then he purchased Gettysburg and Midway from Avalon Hill. And there were many more afterwards like Alexander the Great, Advanced Gettysburg, Squad Leader, Rail Baron, Victory in The Pacific, Civilization, and probably some others I'm forgetting. He still has all of them.
