Hi,

We played a double sized game today with a Russian tank company and US Airborne company against 2 german companies.  It was a fun game with 8 people playing and the victory going to the allies by a point.  We are looking to play the first sunday of the month here at noon time from now on as our regular gaming day.  We may play there other sundays as well but that would be the exception rather than the rule. If we do we will e-mail out a notice to anyone interested.  Hope to see you at one of our future games.  Take care.

Bill

Sounds like a great turnout, Bill.  How did the rules hold up with so many players in one game?  What scenario did you play?

Hi Dean,

It went pretty well.  We had two boards end to end with the Russians in the ruined city end and the American para's in the open country end.  The germans came on all along the opposite end and even though the Allies captured both bridges early on the germans managed to counter attack and contest one of the bridges.  It was pretty much a draw with heavy casualties on both sides which you would expect with equally matched armies.  Unfortunately I forgot the camera so no pics.  We were kind of playing a free for all scenario with modifications.  The objectives were on the river and in the middle of the board at either end rather than the normal locations.  Also we allowed the germans to have two air support options (one per company) while the Allies only had one.  But we let the Allied air attempt to drive off either or both german ground support attacks if they wanted to use the dice.  Even in spite of all the air power, artillery, tanks and para assaults we played the game in about 4 hours with 5 new players.  It was a great time.  The best thing I like about the FOW system is very little arguing over the rules.

Our next game will be  at Noon on Dec. 5th at the Game Citadell.  It will be a Battle of the Bulge scenario that Pete D has crafted for us.  I cant wait to try it out.

The scenario for December 5 at the Game Citadel in Bangor is for the battle for Dom Bütgenbach set on 20DEC44. Kampfgruppe Kühlmann, consisting of a battalion of veteran Panzergrenadiers and heavy armor, must clear the road from Büllingen to Bütgenbach. There are a few American troops and armor blocking the way. It should be a snapshot of the type of fighting that took place during the Buldge.
