looking for Saxons- or people to paint them anyway
The viking forces have been shipped to clubs outside Maine and now we are in need of some volunteers to paint the saxon defenders. I've heard from Larry Alexander, Ken Eckhardt and Bill and the boys in Bangor. I'll be getting their troops shipped this week. We still need three or four more of you to paint saxons. Dont forget, you paint them, you get to keep them! The club is paying for the forces for the game. You just need to have them painted and based, and ready for the convention game at Huzzah!
So, who would like to paint a box of Saxons to defend our village?
You can count me in for a box...
I'll take a box, where can I pick them up?
Tim, I'll get a box to you this week. Meant to bring one with me this morning but forgot it.
Mikey, I'll try to get one to you this week. Are you board gaming at Billy's office on Fridays?
How many uncomitted Saxons still need to be assigned?
Mike
I have four or five boxes more to hand out...interested?

I can be, but I'm out of town this week. Let me know?
Mikey,
I can try to get figs to Billy so that he can get them to you this coming week. I've called and left messages for him but...no word from him yet. Or, you could grab them at the Game Day March 19th if you dont mind waiting.

Billy's office is downtown Portland, right? I'm there a couple of times a week. Let me know if you get a hold of him, otherwise I don't mind waiting until the Game Day on the 19th.
I'll try to reach him to arrange a hand-off. Otherwise, the 19th it is.
Well, I've got my 32 Saxons together. I'll get them primed tomorrow and start painting. How many weeks left? :-)
Well done, Mike! Send along a photo if you a chance, of you and of the Saxons. I might be able to use them for the next Wargames Illustrated online article.

How are we basing these buggers? I believe they are induviually based yes? But squares, round washers? Magnetic?
Thanks ahead

20x20mm stands, or fender washers, individually mounted. Ideally there will be room on the back for the morale/training marking.

Seems I have stuff that will work.
Are there any other guidelines for the Saxon forces? In another tread maybe?
Guidelines for Saxons....none of which I am aware!
Save the pigs, burn the ships, and devil take the hindmost!
Sent a pm to WGiM volunteering to paint some Saxons if help was still needed. It was mentioned in return that he'd be checking to see hwo thigns were coming on the various Saxons that were handed out.
So ... if anyone needs help with the painting, even if tis just half of their box, or perhaps someone originally intended to paint two boxes yet is running out of time to get to both, let me know. I'm willing to assemble and paint.

Also, whether or not I do any painting, what does one need to know about the Viking Dawn event inorder to participate? Do I need to bring my own figures? I've seen mention regarding the rules, but where do I find a copy?

By the way ... I'm interested in being a Saxon player. If I don't hear back soon regarding models that need some work done, then I might go purchase some Saxons somewhere anyway and bring them along. Is someone co-ordinating the Saxon team or how does this work otherwise?
Thank you gamespoet!
To everyone who has been inquiring, guidelines for Saxon forces will be coming out in the near future. It was necessary to get a handle on how many "foreign" clubs were participating as Vikings before work could be done on the Saxon forces. I promise to get some information out about the Saxons within a week.
I would ask, however, that anyone interested in being a Saxon player let me know so that we can begin to shape commands.
Thank you in advance
Jim Flanagan
Jim,
I have a list of people who have taken Saxons for painting.
Gamespoet, Chris Penney said that he has some Saxons that you can paint. Email or PM me your shipping address.
Thanks!
