Huzzah! 2011 Registration is open!
Greetings all- The following news item was posted to TMP today. Dont wait- get your registration submitted in order to get into the games you want. Registration is by date submitted.
Remember, if you are a MHWA member at the $55 level, your convention fee has already been paid so bail out of the registration system when it wants to take you to Paypal, and just email or PM me. Its a little manual hijinks, but it all works out.
Huzzah!
------
The Maine Historical Wargamer's Association is pleased to bring to the wargamers of New England, Huzzah! 2011. This is going to be a great show with historical miniatures games, board games, tournaments, vendors, and several other "events" within the main event. Billed as a Historical Wargaming Convention for New England, we hope to see all the clubs of the region represented.
The response has been terrific. We have Game Masters registered from throughout New England (and some from further away) who have prepared a wonderful selection of games that are visually stunning, engaging, and well crafted. We now need a host of attendees to make the show a success.
The convention will be at the Fireside Inn and Suites (same as last year, but a different name), in Portland, Maine. This is just off the turnpike exit in a business district with food, additional lodging, and easy access to other parts of Maine. The airport is but moments away, the train and bus station perhaps ten minutes. Portland, with its fabulous selection of restaurants, unique retail shops and pubs in the Old Port, and museums is also ten minutes drive. Oh, and yes, there is a mall nearby as well!
Accommodations at the host hotel are only $69 per night. Across the street the rooms are even more affordable. If you want to share space with someone to cut costs let us know and we'll try to help get you in touch with others who also want to share rooms.
• (Host) Fireside Inn and Suites: double room, $69 per night, 207-774-5601• Super 8: two double beds, 207-854-1881• Motel 6: two queen beds, 207 775-0111
Please join us. Support the event, see old friends and make new friends, and enjoy a weekend of great gaming in Maine.
Visit http://huzzahcon.com/registration/ to register for Huzzah! Game spaces are available on a first-registered, first-placed basis, so dont wait.
Hope to see you at Huzzah!

How do you register for the ancients tournament? Also, have you figured out what time slots we are all working?
Morning, Mike.
Andre is looking into how to add the Friday tournament now that the system has closed. Apparently, its not as easy as just typing it in, and might require some help from The Creator of the DB.
As to volunteering...I'd say to check the game schedule and then let us know when you are available. We will need help at the registration desk round the clock, the tshirt and auction ticket booth, and of course the big crew will be needed for setup Friday afternoon and again Sunday late in the day.
Tim Richter is organizing the volunteers and can be reached at tprichter@MyFairpoint.net
Thanks for the help!
I'm signed up for the con, when you gut it fixed sign me up for the Ancients Tournament.
What's the attendance count to date?
Sign me up for the ancients tournament as well, please! I'm also already registered.
V/R
I signed up last night.
Chris Parker
Chris - are you interested in playing in the Basic Impetus tournament on Friday or did you just register for the convention?
Jim
I can't, I'm a working musician as well and I have a gig at Old Orchard Beach that night. I just registered for the show to help support it.
Thank you for asking...
Chris
Registered for Friday and Saturday. Sending along my registration fee to the address provided.
Hi all,
I have just registered for this year (and I can not wait!) and I too would like to get my name on the list for the Basic Impetus Tourney. My e-mail should match my username here (plus gmail.com)
I have a friend who is also planing on registering this Thursday that would also like in on the tourney and I'll pop a message here when he signs up as well.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi, Dan.
Great! Welcome to the convention and tournament. Its shaping up to be a good weekend.
Dean
Regarding registration, I signed up for games on Friday night and each time slot on Saturday, but was wondering from something said over on the volunteer thread about scoping out what one wants to play that evening when helping to set up, can we really just change out mind and do something different?
Well I was really only suggesting that if someone had come and not really known what they wanted to play, or were undecided on two games for example, then they might not pre reg for a game on Friday. But the preregistration system really won't let you choose undecided....
So No swapping out of one to do another would be poor form I suppose.
Tim
There will be a set of three-ring binders at registration, one for each gaming session of the weekend. In each binder is a sheet for each game in that session, with the registration list. If there is room in another game and you decide to switch, it is acceptable to make the change so long as you cross your name off the other game so people know whether or not to expect you.
This is the same system they use at Havoc and its been working for years. We had no issues with it last year at Huzzah! either. That said, I am always careful when swapping games to be sure that I am not leaving someone in the lurch...
Dan - welcome to the Basic Impetus Ancients tournament. Really glad that you and your friend are taking part. We hope that this can be the beginning of some exciting ancients gaming in the northeast.
Jim
Thanks Jim,
I've been looking forward to it since I first started reading the thread elsewhere on the forums and I am glad you guys are putting something together and perhaps if we do get some more interest down here in Nashua I can convince more people for next time.
Dan
So unfortunately we did not get a chance to play but I did get a start on painting (4 don 68 to go?) AND most importantly my friend (Chris Geoffroy,) did sign up so he could be officially added to the tournament that would be great.
Dan
Sorry that you and Chris did not get a chance to play, but the rules are quickly picked up. I think they contain some simple mechanisms that can produce very interesinting results. Looking forward to seeing you next month. By the way, what army are you planning to bring? I am madly painting to try and finish my Alexandrian Macedonians in order to kick some Persian butt (hear that Ken!).
