SECOND CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

I feel so Lincoln-esque - and yes I know before anyone says anything, I know 'I am no Lincoln'

But gentle persons we need to fill out our Volunteer ranks for Huzzah,  you may look at Deans post here and think 'ahh we are all set, look at those big setup crews - they don't need me'

You would be incorrect.  To steal another well used historic line:  Uncle Sam (Tim) needs YOU!  We need more bodies for Friday setup, we need more bodies for Sunday takedown, and we need more people on the Saturday Registration desk...

So you are asking (yes I can hear you) what does Setup mean?  Well we have 9 vendors who will need assistance getting their tables just the way they want them and will probably accept help getting product in the door, and the faster its in the hall the sooner you can buy it.  We also have 14 GM's who will need help lugging stuff and getting setup -- this is all the purview of the Setup Crew (and Floor Manager).

And the Sunday take-down crew is the reverse, of that, with less of the GM part; Sunday is as Dean said more of getting the vendors out smoothly...

And the Registration Desk, well that's self explanatory mostly, getting people their name tags, walk-ins registered for games, helping GM's with how many they should have etc.

Why are shifts so long?  Well they are not really, and they are the length they are so that they overlap, (so that one person is not doing it all), and so that they overlap the sessions, which is equally important for the hours in between sessions...

So I am talking to YOU people... US the members of the local groups that make this convention work and function.  We received excellent reviews from the after con poll for last year, and that was our first, so we have to be even better this time.

That takes teamwork, and I know we have the team...  remember if your GM's a session, you probably shouldn't offer to work a volunteer slot in the time before your game, you would undoubtedly have to cut your volunteering short and start your game setup, that will make the Volunteer Coordinator unhappy, the same goes if there is a game you have to play in...

So please take a look at the Volunteer Schedule and either reply to that thread, or this thread, or PM me, or email me at: tprichter@myfairpoint.net  and I will fit you in.

This concludes the second call for volunteers.

Tim Ricter

Great note- thanks, Tim!

I second your point.  We need to divide the work across as many people as possible so that each of us has a chance to enjoy the convention.  There are a few names on our list two and three times, which is a lot of volunteering.  When do they get to relax, shop and roll some dice?

We had a very good crew last year, who worked hard and did a nice job.  This year we have some new people stepping up, which is terrific.  Let's see if we can find a few more.

<note> I feel like I'm in some horrible MPBN membership drive- arghhh.  <note>/a

Sign me up, I've finally cleared my work schedule and on call. I can help with Friday set up until 6pm then I'll set my game up.  For Saturday I can help after the morning session and Sunday break down after I put my game away.

Thank you Mr. Warner.

I will put you in for a shift on the Registration desk; would you prefer 2 to 8pm, or 6 to Midnight?

Thanks again,  Tim Richter

  Tim,

I may be able to help with the evening shift, but I won't know until the end of the month. I meed to find someone to watch my daughter while I'm there on saturday, and if I can't then I'll have to go back early. I'll keep in touch.

Ok Tim,

I'll put you down in pencil for now.

And Adlerhobby;

No worries, we have a growing crew of 'setup specialists' to get all the vendors in on Friday and out on Sunday as smoothly and easily as possible.  Better for everyone that way.

Tim

Tim,
I should be available fairly early Friday to help get folks in the door and anything else that might need doing, but I do need to run an errand from like 3 to 4.
Nor sure about Sunday take-down...I'll have to check my pulse at that time. wink
Thanks,
Bob

Thank you Bob, all hands are welcome, for whatever time they can put in... and don't worry about a pulse, I'm sure we will all be walking zombies by then....

Tim
