We are doing well on our convention staffing...

but we need a couple of more commitments:

One person for a 8AM to 1PM stint on the Registration desk for Saturday
One person for a 6PM till Midnight stint on the Registration desk Saturday (should be a really easy shift)
One floor Manager from 8pm to 12pm on Saturday (yes Tinman I know you are all over it, but I want two floor managers at that point so someone can take a break)

and one person for a 730AM  till Noon (shut down at that time?) Registration desk on Sunday.

And of course we are still looking for any additional bodies for setup on Friday, and take-down  on Sunday.

Whats the benefits of the setup you ask?  Well for one thing, the hotel sets up our table plan for us, so thats just some last minute adjustments; but more importantly you get to help Vendors setup, therefore a first look at goodies.  And you also will get to help GM's get setup, another look at goodies, and maybe a way to decide on that Friday game you were not sure of....

So come one come all, I know that there are a few more of you who are going to be there early Friday anyway, because you have been waiting for this Con for a year, well, help us make it go smoothly.

PM me or reply to this thread if you would like to take any of the specific job slots above, or if you are available to help setup or take down.  HUZZAH NEEDS YOU!

Not sure how my work schedule is going to work out on Friday, but if things are clear, I might come up sooner to help with setup.  What time does setup begin?

I have another question regarding something else mentioned here, but I'll save that for a registration thread ...

Thats a great question, we have the hall all day Friday, which we did not last year.  So we could get started very early, say noon?  I don't know, it really depends on when we tell vendors that they can arrive and when a critical mass of the setup crew gets to the site.

Well once that gets worked out, let us know, and I'll see what I can do to arrange to get up there to help.

Tim,

I appreciate your concern over giving me a break. I'm not quite sure why the Saturday night floor manager needs to be singled out for needing a break.

Please accept an apology if I misunderstood, but I do not see you addressing duplication of any other floor manager for break purposes.

Hi, Mike.

I have not spoken with Tim but looking at the schedule, maybe its because the shift is longer than the morning, or perhaps because of the lateness of the hour for close?  Not sure.  Either way, if you are happy being Floor Manager for the entire shift I'm sure that's fine.  We should find a way to get you a quick break for dinner though!  Had not thought of food when we put these together at first.

I view this no differently than running a shift in our restaurant. Myself, my wife, or any of the managers are expected to take their breaks on the fly. That is, as business allows. In the meantime we're on our feet for ten or more hours doing our best to make sure every customer has a superior deli experience.

I appreciate the concern and I actually was looking at the Saturday PM shift as one of the easiest despite the length. The con will be in full swing and there is no overlap in game periods. I do not foresee much for trouble. As for my meal, I fully expected to eat it on the fly during a quiet moment in the midst of the later game period.

Then again, if there is enough insistance then feel free to have someone cover while I kick back and enjoy a Chamberlain ale... During my meal, of course.

Mike-

Its all yours!  I got an email from Tim earlier and he was just hoping to share the work.  You were already on registration Friday night, setup/cleanup, and photos too.

Hey Mike,

No slight was intended at all.  I was simply trying to spread the load so no one volunteer had to do too much.  AND of course I want you to be able to enjoy a Chamberlain Ale grin  But yes I was thinking that basically two would lessen stress on any one person over that length, allow for someone to get a bite to eat etc. but there will be plenty of people around to help out as needed.

Just thinking of your enjoyment of the convention my friend.

Tim
