Back from NorCon II
Had a great time this morning checking out NorCon II. There was a good group of friends to catch up with, and the games were fun. I finally had the chance to try out Battle Cry, though poor Austin and I had a heck of a time against Rick's confederates. There was what looked to be a nice ACW game developing as I was having to leave. I'd be curious to hear how it went from someone who was there.
I wish I could have stayed for the Boxer Rebellion game in the afternoon. Did anyone get photos?
All in all, a nice event. Thanks to the group for planning and putting it on!
Austin and I had a great time. He played Battle Cry with Rick Watson and Bernie Anderson's Viet Nam scenario. My First Bull Run game ran long, but it played well and everybody had fun with it, so far as I could see.
I got requests for the Old West game, so I may do that again next year.
It was great to see the old hands and some new young folks as well.
Thanks, Bill!

Hello.
On the subject of the ACW game:
Bartow, Bee, and Evans were sent packing up Henry House Hill by
Burnside and Porter.
Jackson set up by the widow Henry's home and,
indeed, "stood like a stone wall".
Burnside and Porter were
routed away as Keyes, "Cump" Sherman, Franklin, and Willcox took up the
fight. They failed to move Jackson and ended up fighting
(unsuccessfully) to recover some abandoned guns between the lines.
Meanwhile,
Early, Cocke, Kirby Smith, and Stuart's cavalry deployed for the
Confederates and Howard arrived for the Federals.
Result: The
Federals agreed they could not take the hill from Jackson and company,
as the Confederate fire kept them from keeping a stable line to their
front.
All in all, a fairly historical result, with lots of
back-and-forth and high drama.
