(The door creaks open and a stale rush of air escapes the room, Sdkfzfanatic pushes a handful of cobwebs out of the way and pokes his head in....)
"Hello".... "Still no answer."
(Sdkfzfanatic crosses the dark room and takes a dusty memo pad from the table in the entry way, startling a number of small insects and disturbing the inch of dust on the table, he looks around the dark unused room again and then begins to write..)

To whom it may concern,
No one was home so I let myself in. Im fairly new to wargaming (in some aspects) but a former model enthusiast and history/warfare buff for many years who's trying his hand at some 1/285th and 6mm miniature wargaming. I have a mid to late WWII collection of german and russian forces in the works (beautiful peices by GHQ, the company that reinvigorated my interests) and I am considering a foray into ACW and possibly other areas. Im a huge fan of strategy games of all types and general discussions about military and historical doctrines, tactics and the evolution of warfare. In my circles wargaming is alien and unknown and Im hoping to make some connections with others in my area who like to fight "Little Wars" possibly even get into some regular games. Like I said Ive begun work on some WWII micro armour but Im open to anything from ancients to moderns in various scales. Also, if Im the only 1/285th WWII gamer, my current project will provide two forces sufficient for a full game, so maybe I'll bring something new to the table. (pun intended). Im open for anything, smart and a fast learner and, more than anything, Im dying to share my love for wargaming and history with other, like-minded people and grind our differing opinions out over the dice and flocking.

Welcome Bob you've come to the right place. Depending on your location and how far you would care to drive there are clubs, groups and friends meeting all over Maine to game history. I'll start the ball rolling with my small but active group that meets weekly in Standish at Crossroads games. At CRG we are currently into 28mm WWII skirmish but have been known to do 6mm (mine is a late war Soviet force) 10 mm ACW and naval battles from the age of sail to WWII.

I'll now stand back and let the others introduce themselves.

Welcome! We are always happy to have another member as we are kind of a niche in a niche market. If you are anywhere near Standish Wayne and I would love to see you.  I'm also always willing to try out a new game (and recklessly commit myself to producing an army).

Welcome Bob. Nicely written introduction, too. We have a great group of wargamers here in Maine, and we are coming up on our third Huzzah! Convention in May 2012. I think you'll find some very good hobbyists here. I'm in Jefferson, which isn't exactly "Southern", but I know a good many folks down there who are great folks! Welcome to the hobby!
