I thought I'd start up a 40mm scale thread here.

I ran Guildford Courthouse the Boston Trained Bands at Game Day at the Hobby Bunker this weekend.  I was proud to discover that Chris, Dean and Jim had all signed up to play.  what fun, really.

Here are my phone camera images.

I am obviously the only 40mm gamer in the club though I thought we had some people doing acw in 40's as well.

Anyway this Friday I will host my first SYW 40mm game and I am very excited about it.  I have raised 13 units of French/Austrian foot along with 2 batteries of artillery and 2 dragoons and 1 hussar.

I am also excited that two members of the Northern Conspiracy will be joining me for the first time as well as Art, John M. and Scott.

Pics to follow :)

I also read the a new SYW Command & Colors game was demonstrated at Historicon.

What fun.

The system that Chris has put together for the AWI era seems to provide a constantly touch and go kind of game.  It often comes down to the very end, close, and exciting. And doing it in 40mm works well!

The militia come in bulk, sort of like shopping at Sams's Club but you never get to use them all.  The two bid penalties for being a militia unit are both in melee.  First they only hit on the symbol of the unit they are fighting (Battle Cry Dice), while others also hit on a sabre.  But most of all whenever they are contacted they take a morale test in the way of rolling a combat dice and suffering the results.  They are 33% take 1 hit as men runway, 16& they just fallback which for them is two hexes to everybody else 1 hex.

Ah no militia in the SYW, or are there :)

Hi Chris - I felt I just had to join here in order to say thanks for your help with the Battle Cry/C&C rules adaptions for the AWI (as we Brits tend to refer to it!). The game looks wonderful, great figures.

May I ask, do you happen to have the set up details for this game? I'd love to give it a try myself. If you play any future games in this period I do hope you will post more pictures etc.

Cheers,

Lee (grambo589 from TMP forum).

The 40mm French & Indian War game played this past Friday was quite a bit of fun.

Here's a link to a mini-report on how things went ...

http://dayofbattle.lefora.com/topic/18028770/French-Indians-vs-British-Colonials-Oct-11th-2013

I've heard a rumor that it might be back to the Midieval Ages for the next game.  Whether or not this means using Morte D'Artur with 40mm or Day of Battle using 25/28mm hasn't surfaced yet, but keep your eyes posted for another fun game sometime in the relatively near future.

I've also added a new thread over on the Day of Battle Forums regarding recent book purchases.   And after I get my 28mm Polish Winged Hussars further along to completion, its back to painting some more 28mm War of the Roses figures for eventual posting pictures and playing some games!

Yes Friday night was a lot of fun.  Gamepoet and I tweaked out a British victory over Art and his friend Bob.

I am planning a 25mm DoB game next.  Probably in early December on a Sunday so my friends from the south shore can make it as well.

Novemeber is to busy.  Fall In, The Vermont Convention and a Wordpress camp on Boston.
